Peppa Pig and The Negotiator: no half measures . . .

SAHD 1 The Negotiator 0.......

Last night, bedtime fast approaching, The B attempted to make a case for a little bonus pre-bath television.
His motion did not succeed on the grounds that insufficient time remained.
Undeterred, he turned into his alter-ego: The Negotiator.
The Negotiator believes that nothing (a little extra chocolate, another 10 minutes on the iPad, more pizza) is beyond his bargaining talents.
I'm afraid to report that - on this occasion, at least - The Negotiator did not prevail.
"Just one more programme," came a predictable opening gambit that fell on deaf ears.
The Negotiator considered his position for a moment.
"Just one Peppa?" he countered, aware that, at just five minutes in length, this is the shortest available broadcast.
That this also failed led him, in desperation, to attempt a fresh (and, it must be said, rather tragic) tack.
"Half a Peppa?" he suggested, perhaps more in hope than expectation.
His motion denied, The Negotiator opted to rest his case, and headed instead for the bathroom . . . .

  1. Lovely blog! I miss my diddies now - although we had a lovely long time with them home educating - now there's a story! (See my blog http://rossmountney.wordpress.com for more). Anyway, this post reminded me of the ability of my then three year old to negotiate. Only three choc ices and four family members she made a grab for one. So did the others. My hands were empty. Silence round the table. 'What's mummy going to have?' asked dad. the kids looked at their choc ices. They looked at me. Then the youngest said brightly 'you have a banana'. Problem solved! Enjoy your dadhood - parenting is amazing! x
